Love's
Desire
In your love I have
rejoiced
Recalling the warmth of
your embrace.
Your memory will not
vanish
Neither your body
nor your face.
To the core my pain
throbs quietly
For my loveless ghost
tonight
Who trampled heavily
upon my heart
Yet brought forth my
body's delight.
I cannot cease to
remember
How you turned toward
me again
In the middle of the
midnight hour
To feel my love from
deep within.
Now like a tree in
bitter cold
I stand as a woman
alone
Left only with naked
limbs
From whence my love
has flown.
Though my love has
come and gone
Leaving me more lonely
than before
Where once love sang in
my heart
Now love sings in me no
more.
I must not permit my
memories
To cloud my learned
hindsight
By inducing me to crave
again
The pain of love I now
recite.
For the price of love
is not enough
To fulfill human need
and desire
When ill-fated to leave
me broken
With nothing left to
quench the fire.
