There is so much left unsaid,
Words you didn't want to hear.
How I melt when you are near.
How my senses take my head.
The dream of together growing old,
A dream which is long since dead.
In all that is left unsaid,
Words you could not bear to hold.
The waves of pain come,
the dream held out of reach,
to have to hold to teach,
your heart the faint distant drum.
Each day trying to smile.
Telling myself it's alright,
Except when alone at night,
When my heart cries for awhile.
Letting go a little more each day,
Till nothing is left of the pain,
And the love a distant rain,
Of the one meant to always stay.
